Steve Jobs Dead: Apple Co-Founder Dies At 56

Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder and former CEO, has died at the age of 56.

Apple has posted this statement on its website:

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com

Steve Jobs' family also released the following statement:

Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.
In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are thankful to the many people  who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve’s illness; a website will be provided for those who wish to offer tributes and memories.
We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief.

Bill Gates expressed his sadness, telling AllThingsD: "I will miss Steve immensely."

Background on Jobs' health from the AP:

Jobs had battled cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in 2009 after taking a leave of absence for unspecified health problems. He took another leave of absence in January – his third since his health problems began – before resigning as CEO six weeks ago. Jobs became Apple's chairman and handed the CEO job over to his hand-picked successor, Tim Cook.

China obviously doesn't think much of President Barack Obama.

Beijing, China opened an Obama Fried Chicken restaurant. Yes, a OFC. Obama Fried Chicken.
The age old stereotype that black people love chicken isn't just of running joke in America, and being the president of the United States doesn't get you exempted from such social stereotypes does it?

Jay Z Throws a Carnival for College Kids’ Scholarships

The Jigga man is back at again with his charitable service as he hosted a carnival at the Huson River Park pier for his Shawn Carter Foundation. The event was called “Making the Ordinary Extraordinary”, and it sought to raise funds for college scholarships.

MTV News caught up with Mr. Carter at the event, where he said the evening was based on having a good time and also raise money for a good cause. Jay said two of the worst things in life are a waste of talent and a person who applies him- or herself but is unable to advance due to their financial situation. He hoped this foundation would help ease such burdens and assist people in recognizing their true potential.

“Just providing opportunity and seeing what people do with that opportunity. If you want to go further and you want to further your education, just giving someone that extra little push [so] that maybe you’ll turn out to be someone special,” Jay said.

The Shawn Carter Foundation was started by Jay Z and his mother Gloria Carter in 2002 to help those in need get the resources to obtain higher learning.The foundation started with one student earning a full ride through college and grew to offer 50 scholarships to students in 50 different states annually from 2003 to 2005. More than 750 students have been awarded scholarships totaling in excess of $1.1 million, and nearly 500 kids have taken part in the foundation’s college tours — some even rode the bus with Jay’s mom.

Jay Z hopes to expand his foundation soon and reach kids all over the world. Big ups to Hov.

Star Mag: Halle Berry custody witness claims Gabriel Aubry was verbally abusive

That title really doesn’t capture the alleged accusations against Gabriel Aubry in new custody papers unearthed by Star Magazine. The way Star phrases it, the accusations sound really sordid. The thing is, we’ve heard the exact same things about Halle, and we’ve also heard this about Gabriel before along with a lot of conflicting reports about how they were each terrible people so it’s hard to know what to believe. I would bet that their relationship is rocky and that they screamed and yelled before they called it quits, but it probably was in no way as one sided as this makes it sound at all. I also don’t buy Gabriel as this broody, emotionally distant person who forgets to bring presents for his daughter’s birthday and didn’t care about Halle’s pregnancy. Just the fact that he’s fought so hard for custody shows otherwise. Custody can get complicated and messy, and it’s obvious that both sides are slinging accusations. Here’s what Star claims, which I believe Halle could have definitely accused Gabriel of in the court papers. I doubt it went down like this at all. 

Halle Berry’s ex Gabriel Aubry threw a chair against the wall and called [Halle] the N word during a violent confrontation last February, a Los Angeles court has been told.

Star has learned that new witnesses have made these and other explosive accusations against the Canadian-born male model in court documents as the couple’s custody battle over 3-year-old daughter Nahla continues. And these witnesses are shedding new light on the couple’s final blowout - a confrontation that sparked one of Hollywood’s most toxic conflicts. 

Two months before their April 2010 split, Halle, 45, returned to Los Angeles after a trip to San Francisco, and sources say it was anything but a happy homecoming. 

“Gabriel was there, and Halle told him to leave or she would call the police,” a colleague of Halle’s, who has seen the court documents reveals.
“He screamed that she was a ‘ghetto n****r’ and threw a chair against the wall,” the source says. “Halle was shaken and sobbing.”

Sadly, such before was not uncommon for Gabriel during the couple’s nearly five-year relationship, the new witnesses claim. Gabriel allegedly insulted and attacked valets, waitresses, nannies, Halle - and even their daughter. 

“Gabriel hated that Nahla was mixed race,” a colleague of Halle’s claims. “He never wanted her hair to be braided, and he always said that Nahla was white. Friends tried to get him to understand that being mixed was part of her and Halle’s heritage, but he wouldn’t hear it…”
“Approximately six months after they started seeing each other, their sex life dwindled,” the insider reveals. “They rarely had sex, but Gabriel loved to watch porn…”
“He didn’t show any enthusiasm about the pregnancy,” the insider explains. “He didn’t help pick out baby names, help Halle relax, anything. His whole life was about playing golf. And when Nahla was born, he wasn’t any help either.

At Nahla’s second birthday party [in March 2010] “Gabriel didn’t even bring a gift for Nahla, and he was rude and stand-offish to the guests…

“He brought Nahla to her room and made her take a nap so everyone would leave!”

This is in Star, which doesn’t mean it’s false although it definitely could be. I’m thinking that what happened was that one of Star’s court sources dug up some stuff from this case that’s from earlier this year, when all these claims were flying around in the press. I’m really hoping that these two have reached some sort of truce for Nayla’s sake, but I think that the last we heard they were still duking it out in court, with Halle winning some sort of judgment to bring Nahla with her on set. So the accusations could be new for all we know, even if this happened back in February.

Deryl Dedmon Pleads ‘Not Guilty’ to Mississippi Hate Crime

Deryl Dedmon is being charged with running over James Craig Anderson, an African American man, with his pickup truck because of the color of his skin. Dedmon pleads not guilty although he can be seen on tape running over the man who obviously was trying to get away from him.

Deryl Dedmon, 19, is charged with running down James Craig Anderson, 49, with a pickup on Jun. 26 in Jackson, Mississippi. Authorities have called the case a hate crime and the U.S. Department of Justice has launched its own investigation into whether federal charges can be brought.

Standing before a Hinds County circuit judge, Dedmon showed no emotion and spoke only two words during his five-minute court appearance: “Not guilty,” he said, according to Associated Press. The judge told prosecutors to inform the court by Nov. 1 if they plan to seek the death penalty. Dedmon initially was charged with murder. The charge was upgraded to capital murder when authorities said they uncovered evidence that Anderson was robbed. Capital murder—a murder committed along with another felony—is punishable by death or life in prison without parole. Dedmon also was charged under Mississippi’s hate crime law, which allows for harsher sentences.

Anderson’s family has asked that Dedmon not be given the death penalty because of their Christian beliefs. “Our opposition to the death penalty is deeply rooted in our religious faith, a faith that was central in James’ life as well,” the family said in a letter, according to CNN. Anderson's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the seven white teenagers that police say were involved in the gruesome crime. Anderson's long-term partner is prevented by Mississippi law and the Defense of Marriage Act from joining the legal action. Anderson's partner is also prevented by Mississippi law from making end of life decisions.

Jackson police initially charged another teenager, John Aaron Rice, with murder. A judge reduced that charge to simple assault after a detective testified Rice left the scene before Anderson was run over.

The horrific murder was caught on video, showing a gang of white teens beating Anderson before running him over with a pickup truck. Authorities say the teens yelled “white power” and racial slurs during the attack.
Such a tragic event! But lil white boy ass needs to be FRIED!!!!

Game Responds To 50 Cent Diss

Game To Release 50 Cent Diss Track

It looks like the beef between rappers 50 Cent and Game is on once again.
Earlier this week, 50 Cent released a new song titled "Love, Hate, Loves," dissing rapper Lil Wayne and his former G-Unit artist The Game.
In the song, 50 Cent says of Game:

“You forgot about me b*tch I write your hits/You Know How We Do,” “You Hate it or Love it”

"
N*gga f*ck it I'm “special” that's why your ass say my verse/
“You Hate it or Love it”/
They love me and hate me again.”

After hearing 50's latest diss track, Game took to Twitter to promise a counter attack:

After signing with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment in 2003, The Game joined 50 Cent's G-Unit, releasing his first album, The Documentary,
through Aftermath/G-Unit/Interscope in 2005.

The album featured the 50 Cent assisted hit single "Hate It or Love It."
Game was later kicked out of G-Unit and has continued a heated, seemingly never-ending rivalry.

I'll have to check back on this story when Game releases his response diss song. I know it's coming.

Nike sees profits soar…In spite of a bad economy!

Nike Inc. saw its net profits increase by 31 percent for the first quarter of its fiscal year through Aug. 31 compared to 15 percent profit for the same three-month period a year earlier.

The athletic shoe company reported net profits of $645 million for the first quarter of its 2012 fiscal year.

Nike officials said that increased sales helped offset a decrease in profit margins caused by an increase in raw material prices.
Revenues rose by 18 percent to $6.1 billion while its profit margin fell to 44.3 percent from 47 percent.

Shares of Nike, NKE, rose by around 5 percent in trading after the company released its earnings report.

Mark Parker, president and CEO of Nike, Inc., put the situation in perspective.

“We’re off to a strong start in fiscal year 2012. We have a powerful and diverse portfolio of brands and businesses, and we’re focused on leveraging them to drive growth and create value for our shareholders,” said Parker. “It pays to be prudent in times like these. It’s also essential that we remain on the offense, creating opportunities. We do that by connecting with consumers, designing innovative products and delivering amazing experiences. That’s how we continue to lead this company and the industry into the future.”

The company saw sales rise in every geographic area except Western Europe.

Mariah Carey gets back in shape while walking with her five dogs

Mariah Carey showed off her weight loss progress on Twitter this weekend.
The mother-of-two has been battling to lose the pounds since giving birth to twins five months ago.
She posted a picture of herself going for a walk with her adorable dogs in a leafy park as part of her exercise regime.

Dressed in a red tracksuit, the singer beamed at the camera and looked relaxed and happy.
She tweeted the picture of herself and shared her adoration for her pet pooches.
'And they call it puppy love'... me & dem pups at is again!' she wrote.
Mariah and her husband Nick Cannon, 30, welcomed their twins, Monroe and Moroccan on April 30.

The proud father and America's Got Talent host said that not only will his wife lose the pounds she put on whilst pregnant, she's also going to look like she did in her twenties.
The 30-year-old told America's OK! Magazine: 'She is getting it off, she is about to be 1990 again!'
Mariah recently admitted that pregnancy was tough on her, saying: 'My body went through so much - you have to keep those twins in as long as possible, but it's a sacrifice you make for them.'
Just three years ago Mariah cut a very svelte figure at the American Music Awards where she showed off her slim curves in a tight black dress which is what she is hoping to get back to again.

Nick also recently said that his children's personalities were already showing through, with Monroe a lot like her famous mother.
'My daughter is a diva. My son is laid back. When he wakes up, he wakes up smiling. He'll wait for a minute and if he's hungry, he'll let you know.
'My daughter is just instant, she goes in and will not stop crying til you give her what she wants. It's like sleep and then screaming.
'My daughter is just on one all the time.'

But fans haven't been given the opportunity to see whether the youngsters look like the actor or their singer mother.
The only photo the couple have released was of Monroe with a hand covering her face.
Mariah tweeted the picture, with the comment: 'This is baby Monroe saying "no pictures dahhhhling" at 7+1/2 weeks..oh dear :)'

Arrested Development Is Coming Back To Your TV

If you’re a fan of Arrested Development, you have a lot to be celebrating. Not only is the show going to be coming to us in the form of a feature film, but it has been announced that the beloved show will be returning to the small screen as well for a limited engagement of ten episodes. The show’s star Jason Bateman took to Twitter to release the exciting news:

It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13.

It has been a constant question of will they or won’t they for a while but with this confirmation, all of the show’s loyal fans can begin to gear up. Series creator Mitch Hurtwiz has always been pretty mum on the whole situation since the show’s cancellation but now, it appears that all signs point to go. Stay tuned for more details to come on this soon!

Shaunie Oneal Answers Back To Kimsha Artest+ Basketball Wives Season 4

Kimsha Artest has recently been in the media speaking about her dislike for Shaunie ever since she was removed from the Basketball Wives LA Season, and Shaunie has finally answered back. Kimsha was first introduced on the first episode but viewers have noticed her obvious removal from the other episodes. Kimsha lashed out at Shaunie claiming her to be fake while removing her but keeping the woman who supposedly slept with her ex husband. There were also rumors that stated there was a confrontational fight between the two which now Shaunie vehemently denies.

During an interview with Madame Noire, Shaunie sets the record straight regarding Kimisha and their alleged fight and also makes it clear that ‘Basketball Wives’ LA is strictly business and that she had no say in who should be a part of the show and who couldn’t be. She also took that time to clear up rumors concerning her causing drama for ratings and dished the dirt on what to expect from Basketball Wives Miami Season 4.

On misconceptions people have of Shaunie
People think that I start all the drama and sit back and watch it unfold. So not true, the ladies on the show would say drama is the one thing I want to stay away from, on the and off the show. If I can stop some drama or deal with issues by just talking about it, that’s more like me, lets just talk about it like two adults.

On not putting her personal business out there
I can talk about Shaq all day long, I don’t have a gag order, and he can talk about me. I would never speak bad about him and he would never speak bad about me. But we’re parents first and it’s all about our children

. There’s really nothing to talk about. You ask about him and I’ll answer it because I can and he can do the same.

On Kimsha
We’ve never met, so there is no relationship. I’ve met Ron [Artest] before a couple times, but never Kimsha, ever. I can’t say anything about her because I don’t know her.
I don’t know how you fight someone that you’ve never met nor talked to. We’ve never been in the same place at the same time that I know of. And I would never ever fight somebody, I guess you’d have to meet them first to do that, and that’s never happened. So, I really don’t know where all that came from. It’s funny though, because she took a jab at Jen over her Facebook and Jen has never met or talked to her either, so we were clueless where it all came from. So I’ve brushed it off like ‘oh well, whatever’.

You know, I was out last night and many people saw me. I will be traveling this weekend; I have appearances in Houston and Dallas. And clearly I have not been in any altercation. It would have to be the ghost of Kimsha that I have yet to meet.

On Kimisha being cut from Basketball Wives LA
Well yeah, last I knew, she’s still on the show. I’m honestly very hands off with Basketball Wives L.A. I did not cast, nor did I care to cast and I could care less who’s on the show. When they were casting,I was very very hands off. LA was already cast by the time I heard the line up and we were still filming in Miami. Miami is my baby, it’s my focus.

On her relationship with the other cast members of ‘Basketball Wives LA’
It is completely business. Because it is a part of the Basketball Wives franchise, I absolutely want it to be successful, and it is successful.

On what we can except from season 4 of ‘Basketball Wives Miami’
We are going to be in different locations this season. We’re trying something new. We’re going to spend about six weeks in New York and film there for a while. We’re going to go to Miami, and I think we’re going to try and spend a few weeks here in LA.

On what she would like to have seen more of on the last three season of ‘Basketball Wives’ Miami’
I would have liked to have seen different situations handled better. I would have liked nobody to put their hands on each other. It’s natural to disagree and have an argument though. I would like to see everybody’s philanthropic events showed too. They’ve been filmed but they’re overlooked and overpowered by the drama, because you know people like the drama. I’m pushing that for season four.
